Adding / Editing a New Stream

Here is how streaming media can be added into the content delivery network specified by the Operator.


For video on demand (VOD) streaming: -

  1. Select the video on demand (VOD) streaming type from the drop down menu.
  2. In the applet that appears, insert the URL to the media to stream.
  3. Toggle anti leeching to only enable the stream to be accessed by selected Websites. Leeching is a term given to illegal users of a bandwidth. A full definition can be found here (courtesy Wikipedia).
    1. Set the connect handler for Publishers to connect to the streaming server.
    2. Set the play handler where Publishers to be able to play the stream within their embedded player.
  4. Click the Start Streaming button and follow the instructions that appear after that.

For Live Streaming (RTMP): -

  1. Select the live streaming (RTMP) stream type from the drop down menu.
  2. In the applet that appears, insert the URL to the media to stream.
  3. Choose Internal or External publishing point...
    • External publishing points are not within the Operator's streaming Edge server. Operators have no control and Publishers maintain full control.
    • Internal publishing points are located within the Operator's streaming Edge server, and so are in control be the Operator.
    • Ensure that the URL field is filled out with the fully qualified domain name including the rtmp:// prefix as shown in the example.
  4. Select a publishing point from the radio buttons presented, if there are more than one.
  5. Click the Start Streaming button and follow the instructions that appear after that.

  1. Select the Shoutcast streaming type from the drop down menu.
  2. In the applet that appears, enter in the Shoutcast file name as a single word with no spaces and symbols. The file extension .stream will be automatically appended by the system.
  3. Enter the Shoutcast streaming URL with http:// (this is the URL stream users will use in their media players).
  4. Click the Start Streaming button and follow the instructions that appear after that.
