Version 2.11 Change Log

Release Date:
12th January 2011
Version Number:
Version 2.11

This is quite a large release, with a lot of enhancements and a couple of bug fixes.

It combines two versions, 2.10 and the current 2.11.

Features to take note of are the Distributed File Storage (DFS) systems, SHOUTcast streaming, and iOS streaming.

With Distributed File System, operators can delegate a single Edge server to be used as a distributed file repository. This acts like a holding point for file and media distribution via the HTTP Push method.

SHOUTcast streaming and iOS streaming capabilities (for Apple devices) have been introduced.

Publishers can also secure resources on the CDN by having a unique hash appended on the resource's direct URL. A generator is made available by placing the mouse over a CDN site name in the CDN site list, and clicking "Generate hash link", if this option was enabled when the site was added.

Enhancement Highlights:
  • Combination of options to add Edge servers with HTTP Push and/or Pull capability, combined with VOD and/or live streaming.
  • A choice of external or internal publishing point while adding live streaming media. Internal publishing points are determined by the Operator, and external publishing points are custom publishing points from the publisher.
  • Ability to add SHOUTcast media streams now.
  • cPanel integration module update. More information here.
  • URL signing.
